Before reading,
it is important to be aware that this world is not to be seen through the lense of our society's norms.
Here are some rules that differ from what you might be used to and an explanation on how it works in Opälstone:

⟡ The concept of parents/children does not exist. Here, the terms used are Guardian and Ward. It cancels any ideation of what a family should look like. The well-being of a ward is the primary concern of any guardian, regardless of their biological link.

⟡ Genders do not exist. Trans people, non-binary people, cis and so on individuals do exist but the concept of gender itself does not. Languages are gender neutral, a specific symbol is given to any individual at birth and may be changed depending of any body alteration. Those symbols do not represent the "gender" of a person and is only and solely used for health professionals such as doctors, surgeons, etc. The absence of such concept prevents gendered casts, roles, and discrimination.

If you want to talk about the characters, please refer to them by They/them pronouns or by the Astöne correct pronoun (3rd singular): Sè/Sèma
